Integrate jQuery in DNN 4

jQuery is already included in DotNetNuke 5. If you use DotNetNuke 4, jQuery can be included manually:

  1. Download jQuery:
    http://www.jquery.com
  2. Open the file Default.aspx in root folder of your DotNetNuke installation and integrate it:

    <script src="/jQuery/jquery.1.2.1-min.js" type="text/javascript" language="javascript"></script>

    Please note that Default.aspx will be overwritten when you update DNN.

    DNN 4 and jQuery both use the "$"-function for internal purposes. This causes a conflict, which you can work oround using the jQuery "noconflict" mode.

  3. To use the "noconflict" mode you just have to integrate this javascript below the javascript Library ("jquery.js"):

    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
        var $j = jQuery.noConflict();
    </script>

    More informationen: http://docs.jquery.com/Using_jQuery_with_Other_Libraries

Example:

$j(document).ready(function(){
    // Your Code
});

jQuery plugins usually work with "$"-Function. In this case just open the javascript file and search/replace "$" with "$j".
